FSC Forest Management:
As part of the FSC process, forest management standards are developed by a regional working group, and then submitted to Accreditation Services International for approval. The final product, if approved, is an “FSC accredited standard”. Once accredited, all FSC-approved certifiers must use the endorsed regional standard as the fundamental starting point for FSC certification in that country/region.

A basic draft forest management standard for Australia is available for public interest and information. Note that it is a draft only and not intended as a document for consultation.

In countries where an FSC accredited forest management standard has not yet been fully developed, certification bodies create interim standards for use in evaluating forest management operations.
The two interim standards in use in Australia are:
Rainforest Alliance - Smartwood interim standard for Australia

Soil Association - Woodmark interim standard for Australia

Soil Association also has a separate interim standard for SLIMF (Small, Low Intensively Managed Forests).

Note that Smartwood includes SLIMF requirements as part of its one interim standard.
